Lucky Valor

Lucky, a Service Dog in Training, is named in honor of retired Maj. Heather “Lucky” Penney, a former F-16 pilot with the Washington D.C. Air National Guard. On September 11, 2001, then 1st Lt. Penney was one of the first two U.S. combat pilots launched over Washington, D.C. She and her commanding officer took off in unarmed F-16s, prepared to stop hijacked airliner, Flight 93, believed to be heading toward the nation’s capital. She was prepared to do whatever was necessary, even sacrificing her own life. Lucky will be training with our Florida program.

Lucky has a lot of growing, learning, and adventures ahead of her, and we can’t wait to follow along as she begins her journey.
