We are excited to announce plans to expand our capacity. We finally have the land and space available to launch our own breeding program and to expand into a larger training space. This will enable us to train more dogs and help more American heroes each year.

We need you! You can support a future hero recipient by helping us increase the number of dogs in our program and have improved training facilities to better prepare our dogs for their service.

Capacity Building Plan: $295,000 Goal

Part I: Building Renovations

We have $285,000 to raise to make renovations and improvements to our property and existing buildings that will enable us to better serve our American Heroes and the dogs that we are training for them. These improvements and renovations include:

• Land grading and paving to accommodate handicapped accessible parking and access to all areas of the property.

• Renovate large metal building into an open concept service dog training facility that is air conditioned, has an ADA compliant bathroom and outdoor space that is safe and easy to clean given Florida high temperatures.

• Renovate smaller metal building into a whelping center that is sound proofed, accommodates two litters of puppies, has an ADA compliant bathroom and sanitizing space for volunteers.

Part II: Breeding Program Launch

$10,000 will be raised to launch the breeding program. Extensive testing, assessment and veterinary input is required to responsibly breed dogs for service work. Also, outfitting a space for breeding, whelping and puppy enrichment is critical to the success of this program. Prior to any puppies being born at VSD, these preparations must be made in order to be successful.
